How tough was it to compete in Zee Sa Re Ga Ma?
The toughness is very high and it is beyond one’s imagination.
What exactly was tough for you?
First, Nepalese people do not get enough attention in a place where the majority are non Nepali nationals. They even do not consider us as a human being. Second, it is very tough to impress the judges with one’s singing. Third, one has to go through the elimination in every round and to retain in the show is another challenging job. Fourth, it is tough to compete with those individuals who have received vocal trainings from their early childhood. Despite of these circumstances, I really had great experiences.
Were you free to select songs during the competition?
No, all of us were not allowed to sing songs on our own selection. The production team selects songs for the participants and no one can ignore the selection of songs. After all, we are in a competition and even though, you are not good enough for that song, you have to sing it.
Did you face any kind of obstruction from your competitors?
Yes, I was had to perform the song Allah Hu by Nushrat Fateh Ali Khan and one evening, I was practising for that. But I had a competitor, Kurun Ekbaal, who registered the song under his name making my practise go in vain. It was purposely done to push my practice in vain as he felt that I was going to do well in the upcoming episode.
Any other experiences?
Many competitors had tried to serve my concentration as I had received many invitations from them to have recess around but I ignore and concentrated on my rehearsing.
Did you feel being avoided?
Yes. In the beginning, I used to be alone most of the time. I was just an observer on my competitors enjoying leisure time with their friends and families who had come to visit them. But nobody from my relation used to come to see me. But later, I slowly started to get befriended with the participants.
How fair was the decision of eliminating you in the top 14 round?
Actually, I was informed by Purav Kohil, host for the season, that my name for elimination was finalised before my performance. Purav Kohil came to me and said, ‘Please do not get hurt but your name was already registered as eliminated before you performed your last song’. Even the participants and judges praised on my cover for the song Man Ki Lagan that I performed last in the reality show but the overall decision was on to the production team.
